Plan of Conservation and Development for Greenwich

Contributed by The Greenwich Land Trust - Posted: November 6th, 2007

Dear Friend of the Greenwich Land Trust,Once every ten years, the Town of Greenwich is required by the state of Connecticut to prepare a Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD).

This fall, the firm of Planimetrics is hosting meetings around Greenwich inviting residents to comment on topics that are important to them.

Topics that have been discussed at these meetings have been traffic, open space, the central business district, our shoreline, our parks, water quality, density issues, affordable housing, athletic facilities, to name a few.

If we are going to have any impact on the future of land preservation in Greenwich, we need to speak out about the importance of open space to our health and the quality of life in our town!

As a member of the Greenwich Land Trust community, I hope you will join in raising your voice for the protection of open space in Greenwich.

We have the opportunity to voice our opinions at upcoming meetings on the following dates:

11/8, 11/18, 11/20, 11/28, 12/13 and 12/19

For meeting times and locations, please visit the Town of Greenwich’s website.

Sincerely,

Bill Boysen
President of the Board
The Greenwich Land Trust

Greenwich Land Trust

Contributed by The Greenwich Land Trust - Posted: October 23rd, 2006

The Land Trust was formed in 1971 at the urging of the Town’s Conservation Commission, local garden clubs, and conservation leaders, and became an independent non- profit corporation in July, 1976. Since then, a legacy of land has been built through the generosity and foresight of land donors and many others. Today, we actively protect and manage over 625 acres of land obtained by donation or through conservation easements.
